This notice explains what personal data The Luminary Candle Company collects, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short and only collect what we need to send you candles. For any privacy question, contact us at hello@theluminary.uk.

Who we are

The Luminary Candle Company (Rich & Leigh), based in Holyport, Berkshire, is the data controller for the information you give us. You can write to us at:

What we collect and why

• Order details — your name, email, delivery address and what you ordered, so we can make, send and support your order.
• Payment — card payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
• Mailing list — if you give us your email to hear about new scents, we keep that address until you ask us to stop. We only use it to tell you when something new is poured, and we never pass it on.
• Messages — anything you email us, so we can reply and keep a record.

Our lawful bases are performing our contract with you (fulfilling orders), our legitimate interests (running the shop and replying to you), and legal obligations (keeping records for tax).

Who we share it with

Only the services that make an order happen: Stripe (payments), our delivery carrier (Royal Mail), our website host, and our email provider. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.

Cookies

The shop uses your browser’s local storage to remember your basket. That stays on your device and isn’t shared with us. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

Visitor counts

We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly service, to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets no cookies and doesn’t identify you: it records the page, the country, the device type and where the visit came from, and nothing that could be traced back to you.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as we need to for the order and to meet tax and accounting obligations, then delete them. Emails are kept only as long as useful.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it — email hello@theluminary.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) if you think we’ve mishandled your data.
