The Luminary began with Rich and Leigh, two friends from Holyport, and a conversation in their local that went further than most. What followed was months of late nights in a garden studio — testing, burning, testing again.
Our first pours burned too fast; the next, too slow. Some fragrances filled a room before you'd shut the door behind you; others barely reached the sofa. Friends, colleagues and family tried every version and told us the truth, batch after batch, until the formula held.
A paraffin wax blend, chosen for its performance — a stronger, more even scent throw than the alternatives we tried — paired with a cotton wick and fragrances chosen for how they age in a room rather than how they smell in a shop. Every candle is still poured by hand, in small batches, in that same Holyport garden studio.
We're a small operation, and for now we like it that way — every order still leaves Holyport packed by one of us. The aim is simple: build something that lasts here, one well-made candle at a time.
This is where it begins.
